Pond project update......fish added

THAT is what happens here. Herons mostly, make quick work of it!!

Osprey no landing and take off zone.

Yes inspires me as well. That's all I need is another "project" :)
More concerned about racoons, cats or possums. But they are cheap fish so not too upset if I lose some.

My grandmother had a big inground goldfish pond. She would bring in some of them and put them in a old wringer washer with some seaweed in it for the winter Had it in the basement. Must have had a light on it too.

That is awesome, dont worry about the fish, they have survived longer than humans on this earth. Nothing special needed for them, even over winter. Im not saying dont but I never worried about icing over. They go into a semi hibernation. I remember walking on the ice and seeing them swimming below it.

By buying what the industry calls "feeder" goldfish you are doing them a favor at a chance of survival. They all won't survive but they are living more like a free fish now. I wouldn't get crazy about adding chemicals. Think about it like oil additives most are useless but in this case nature has your back and you may not be aware but all the plants you put in the pong already added billions of good bacteria, as does every left and peace of dirt that falls in.

Very cool, good luck.

😞Do I have enough typos in this post?

We had a frog pond behind our back fence for 15 years. I could sleep, and sometimes they were very LOUD. Wife could not stand it!!
Yeah, they can be noisy for sure. Here the tree frogs are the loudest of the bunch I think. Family member who just bought a new house here but didnt move in yet, had one in the house, they said it was REALLY loud, builder got someone in there to find it and get rid of it.

We have LOTS of toads, frogs and Anole Lizzards. The lizards are cute, see them almost everyday in one place or the other walking outside the house, crawling all around. Tops of garbage ban, AC enclosures, up and down the sides of the house and shrubs. Some run, fast as heck, others just stare and watch that you dont get too close. I personally love this stuff and one must remember that they all eat insects.

Need alligator snapping turtles for the mix!
Friend and his wife were out fishing one hot day.

She decided to hang her feet in the water off the boat.
One latched on to her foot. Took a few stitches.
