Polyurethane Glue good for immersion in hot engine oil?

I'm helping someone alter his Motorguard bypass to account for TP size. It might require some glueing.

I noticed that the end caps on my Mann cartridge oil filters appear to be glued with polyurethane glue, similar to the kind you can buy at home depot, and similar to the polyurethane foam that is used to seal holes in the sides of houses etc.

Does anybody know whether this assumption is correct, and whether polyurethane glue would be a good glue for the inside of a motorguard (hot engine oil application).

Contact the manufacturer for data about the stuff's resistance to heat and oil-solvency properties. Personally, given the mission-critical nature of your proposed application, I'd be more than a bit leery without some official assurances.

Good point Ray. I'm going to do that. Alternatively, I thought I could use a loctite product that's designed for internal engine use, but I don't think it has the gap-filling capabilities of the polyurethane, since that glue expands/foams.

Polyurethane does not have hot oil resistance, use a heavy body silicone like Loctite Instant Gasket or Ready Gasket....
