The local Racetrack gas station in my town has yellow police tape around one of the pumps.It's been like this for about 3 weeks now.Calibration problem?

Hmm.. are you sure it's CRIME SCENE - DO NOT CROSS tape? If so, it's got some evidence there. I can't see a rip off being limited to one pump. Most of the thieving types manage it across the board electronically.
It says police on the tape.I've seen this before at another gas station about a week before this one.Maybe their trying to trace a credit card theft.Kind of interesting.

At my dads work, some idiot stabbed an innocent driver because he got to the pump before him, and the guy wouldn't move, well the fella almost died on the scene, and the guy was caught down the road for speeding... so then he faced jail time... dad had to be a witness.
It's because what they're charging is a crime!

Heck, CSI would have that pump back in working order in 42 minutes or less. It would be removed from the scene, a whole gas station constructed in both virtual and real time, all the forensic evidence collected ..and put back just like before.

If you do that around here you'll be met with a dumb stare from a not so friendly middle eastern gentleman who thinks you are defaming his business. I swear they are like the "soup nazi" around here, these gas station owners.

Can you blame them? Can you imagine how many times a day someone comes in and asks him why gas is so expensive? And people thinking he's making more money because the price of fuel is so high.

No. The owner of foreign origin figured out that if he circled just one pump with crime scene tape, many more "gora" came in to ask why it was there. They would also buy gas and other things in the process since they would be too busy to stop otherwise. They gave up their regular stop to satisfy their curiosity. He knew it would bug the heck out of them.
