At work I have a Polaris 6X6 AWD. The manual specs Polaris or other 0W-40 synthetic only. I don't see a problem with Rotella Synthetic 5w-40. Temps here don't get cold. Anybody see a problem with this? Also, does anybody have an aftermarket oil filter number for this? 2007 or 2008 700cc.

The Rotella 5w40 will work well in your 6 by, use with confidence.

Sry, no filter number, but I usually have a local auto parts store get me Wix filters for my quads. Just give them the Polaris number and they can cross it over to Wix. Or if you like, go to the Wix website and cross it yourself.

I just bought a bunch of NAPA filters for my Polaris for $4.15 a filter. The local NAPA had a filter sale and I stocked up on everything, oil filter, air filter, cabin air filter. Everything was more than 1/2 off all NAPA Gold filters. I an set for a few years.

Check the Wix filters website for cross references for Polaris filters. NAPA drops the leading 5 digit, but the last 4 numbers are the same as Wix.

I asked the Polaris Rep about 0w-40 or other weights. They said you must use 0w-40 for warranty coverage. So if you're still on the 6 Mo. warranty, you may want to hold off.

Mine is over and changed mine at 16 hours to Amsoil Power Sports 0w-40.

Good luck!

I would wait till the warranty is up, which will probably be at the most one oil change. I will say I think that Polaris dealer is blowing smoke, if any other oil will void the warranty, tell them to supply the oil. As a owner of several Polaris's, all which gave me excellent service and I still own two, Polaris oil is the most overpriced gimic oil I ever saw. I used it religiously in the first few Polaris's, but it wasnt crazy expensive back in 1993 either. Its crazy to pay those prices, none of my ATVs have Polaris fluids in them now and I have not had any problems.

A guy posted a VOA of Polaris oil several months back and it was like a 20w-50 !!

I am all Amsoil all of the way.

I also use Amsoil 0W40 in my Polaris with great results. According to the previous post, the Polaris dealer only said he had to use 0W40, but he didn't specify a brand of 0W40.

I didn't like the Polaris price. I found my 500 HO to be much quieter on an cold start, and needed less choke to stay running when cold on Mobil 1 0w40. The voa of Polaris referenced above explains the noise, and excessive choke to stay running.

I guess I can get the Polaris and Amsoil for essentially the same price, but I prefer the Amsoil.
