POE grease

Hi, I've been a fan of this site for a long time but first time posting. My question is why in the motor oil market it seems there has been a change from PAO to POE oil base stock but the switch never happened for any grease I know.

Is it superior for grease? As is always the case, just because one thing is "better" in one application does not necessarily indicate that it is better in another.

Or are we just posing uninformed hypotheticals?

POE's can be be used as "co-bases" for fully synthetic motor oils to improve performance say in boutique racing oils, but I know of no IC engine oil in which the base oil is 100% POE, despite the advertising hype.

Many blenders use PAO oils mixed with alkylated naphthenes (AN's) and have moved away from POE's because of cost.

That's very interesting, thanks for your reply. I was aware POE is very expensive. I remember shopping at Quintolubric for a barrel of POE and the price blew me off my feet. Didn't know the boutique racing oils are just spicing up with POE and make it sound like they found the magic potion. It's kind of hard to tell what is just hype sometimes.
