Had the car 8 yrs now but low miles (40,000). Will be changing out the plugs with the factory OE type (NGK FR5AP-11) and replacing the 16 ohm factory wires with 8 ohm NGK's as well. Plugs will be a pain because of the boxer layout and clearances in the engine compartment.

Its not too bad plan ahead and take stuff out to make job easier.. such as IIRC the windshield washer bottle(or was it the filler neck?).. etc.

Its certainly much harder than a modern I4 design.. but many V6 designs are similarly a PITA.

There are some youtube videos out there. Helps alot.

It's a good idea to replace both and go another 6 years IMO.

It's not too bad to change. A couple short extensions help so you can get them in and out with the low clearance. I use a short piece of vaccum line to insert the new plugs without crossthreading.

It's a good time to check the valve covers for leaks as well. It's common to see leaks near the plug tubes on that generation.

Brought it home October 8th 2008. She was a year end remaining inventory they'd had since Spring... base model stick shift 16" steel wheels and no options, not even any window tint just clear glass... talk about plain looking. But that meant killer deal on it.

I've up sized the rims to tirerack.com alloys w/ 225VR17 Nokian tires, had full window tint done and looks pretty sharp. Lack of roof racks means less wind noise on the highway, too. Was kicking around trading it on something else but I've decided to keep it.

I'm replacing them based on age. No apparent symptoms. Plus, the NGK's have half the resistance and better RFI/EMI protection.
