Here again to ask questions about my minivan. Lately it’s been hesitating really bad at WOT and there is 0 top end power (>4k rpm). The floor also gets really hot in the general area of the car. It’s had a p0420 for at least 100-150 thousand miles from previous owner reports. I don’t have an IR temp gun but I could probably source one. Seems like a bad cat?

I vote for a straight pipe only! Get rid of the muffler too :devilish:
I thought about putting one of those stupid turbo muffler things on it 😉 I’ve been told the 3.8 sounds like trash without any kind of muffling or resonator so I’ll give the tone some consideration since I’m not a tweaker

Use a heavier HM oil and maybe some motor honey ;)

Perhaps a piston soak might be worth trying? A can of Berryman is like $10
It originally called for 5w20 which is what I put in it when I first got it (was supplied for free) until about 210k or so(?) when I started using 5w30. Last change I used M1 5w40 euro and it momentarily improved until it just went ahead and just consumed about the same rate as ST 5w30. Using ST HM 5w30 this go around to see if it makes a difference. I don’t really care if it uses some between changes but I’d rather it not get to the point where it drinks 2 quarts a change so I might try some berrymans near the end of this oil change. At 251k though and some really hard miles (towing and street racing) I’d probably say it’s just getting worn out.
