Eventually, registration will be a problem. Then you're screwed if they ask for the inspection sticker for new registration sticker. Then, no car.

OP I believe is in Indiana they only have emission testing in 2 county's unless he is in one of them he is good to bypass. Even if he was in a testing county the vehicle at 20 years old is likely exempt.

I am in a non inspection county, those 2 are in Chicagoland area where I am not once I get paid I’ll probably replace it with straight pipe

Front bolts where the flex pipe thing is aren’t coming out any time soon which is an issue because I already cut behind the cat

Get a piece a rebar, a hammer and a shop vac. Remove the cat and beat the rebar through it to clean it out. I don't think anyone is too poor for that
