There are no good Fords.

A certain M Wan let certain information slip the other day in the shout box, of which the bulk of us were unaware.

This is the second "2" that I needed to find a number bracketed by 3.9 and 4.1

+2 for G-Man

My wife bought a 2000 Contour in 2000. She spent 10k on it.

We've spent probably 6k in repairs over the years and finally got rid of it.

I was the dummy and kept thinking "this has to be the last thing to go wrong for a while".

The sad part is that it was all the "trivial" stuff that went bad....alternators, starter, power steering pump, exhaust system.

The engine and transmission were solid.

Yep, they have a forum dedicated to that model bonco (Early Bronco - 66-77):

http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum45/

They also have forums for various engines or engine series. Hey, some of the early broncos came with the 302 V8 (5.0L). What a hot setup! Still, I am an inline six guy. Early Broncon probably had the 170 and 200 cid inlines.

I like Fords. Trucks are great. Mustang is actually now a quality car and the Fusion is also very good.

Ford quality is running leaps and bounds over Toyota quality.
Which certainly doesn't fit the public perception.
But the numbers don't lie.

Yes, Ford has had some recalls of late, but in every instance the recall involves supplied parts, and not the actual assembly or design.
Toyota cannot make this claim, as their equipment is being built sub-standard, and recalls involving their design and assembly are happening more and more. Many Tundra owners are finding out that it is one of the cheapest built trucks on the market. Too bad there is not a recall for junk trucks that don't show themselves until 75-100k down the road. (shrug)
