Pleasant Tire Purchase Experience At WalMart

I have also gotten great service out of Walmart Douglas tires and will happily go that route when they have them in my size. I typically won't get much more than ~35K miles out of them, but that's pretty standard for most tires for me.

Do you have to give the delivery driver a tip?

They usually don't hand the groceries to you. They drop and go their own way. So no tip required. You can leave one on the checkout screen. The delivery person is not aware one way or the other.

Only bad experience I had with walmart tire center recently was they forgot to pull the old weights off the wheels for our Nissan. So it has 2 sets of weights.

Curious if the weights were the crimp-on lead weights or the stick-on type. With the latter, I always remove the weights and clean the insides of the wheels before every installation. About a decade ago an installer scraped off the old weights, but left a ton of old tape residue and gunk...and it looked just horrible. And at least I have peace of mind knowing the new weights will properly adhere over the long run.

Factory was stick on weights, Walmart did clamp on weights on the inside, thankfully. Not worried about corrosion because we put a separate set of wheels on this car for the winter and it sits most of the winter anyway.

This is an indictment of your particular city...not W-M or Costco. We don't have such issues at these places in my town. In fact, when we have out-of-town visitors they always comment, "Hey...your Wal-Marts don't have everything all locked up!"

I'm sorry for your Walmart experience. Maybe go to a different area store. It's not Walmarts fault that the community is not being policed properly.

Considering this was in Irvine CA I'm dumfounded as it is considered one of the safest cities in the country. Of the hundreds of Walmarts and Costcos I used to go to throughout this great country there are exactly zero that do not have some kind of drama or criminal activity going on. With over a 3 billion dollar loss annually it's no wonder.

Americas Tire uses the the stick ons (at least on my wheels). They always clean off the residue and detail/ Armor All the tires afterwords. I also appreciate that they torque lugs to spec.

Walmart replaced my TPMS sensors--they had the best price (all 4 for $128), and since they also did the Goodyear Reliant tires for that car, did a rotation and balance at the same time. Went early in the day, got it out quick too. Don't know what TPMS brand they installed, but all have been working normally for about a year now.

All that said, our last tire purchase, for the wife's car (#1 ride) did NOT get foreign tires, instead got USA sourced Generals and road force balancing, at Discount Tire. Her wishes ruled, and to seal the deal Discount Tire had a pretty good deal with a pair of stacked General Tire rebates and price matching to Amazon who was running a 20% off sale.
