Been running Plasma 5.3 on Kubuntu for the past few weeks and I am really impressed, and this is coming from someone who has never been much of a KDE user. I tried to like KDE 4.X but I always seemed to go back to a GTK based desktop after a week or two (LXDE, MATE, XFCE, and Cinnamon being most often used). But this may be the desktop that pulls me over to KDE. It is beautiful to look at and the lag I always hated in KDE 4 is gone. Still on the cutting edge (ie a few quirks) but mostly a big bundle of awesomeness.

I agree. Plasma 5 is **gorgeous** and as far as I am aware almost all popular KDE apps have been updated to use the new framework and libraries.

I have wanted to love KDE for years but kept returning, too, to Gnome and GTK-based desktops because of either prior versions of KDE's heavy resource usage or some KDE app's propensity towards crashiness. It is a really, really well thought-out and well-designed complete desktop; and there are a lot of KDE/ Qt applications that are excellent like Amarok and DigiKam. Even VLC uses Qt and fits right in.
