I actually know a pilot who lost control and killed himself and several others due to disorientation after flying into snow showers below clouds ( No instrument rating ).

I taught him how to fly and read about it in the newspaper while buying coffee at a restaurant.

I see lots of YouTube crash analysis videos of general aviation pilots.

They are great Point A to B pilots in nice clear weather, but as soon as it’s VFR into IMC they crash and get killed.

A cold front had gone through and although it was mainly clear, the airmass was unstable and snow squalls were around.

I taught him how to fly and read about it in the newspaper while buying coffee at a restaurant.

I wouldn’t let my wife or son get into any SE aircraft unless I am flying of coarse ( during the day )

Yet people still go on and on about air travel being safer than driving... yeah I gladly take my chances behind the wheel any day. On the ground I at least have control on some level...

Example.. John Madden. He took wheels everywhere. Until parachutes are widely available, im not flying.
