PL14610 cut open

Hey guys. Here's a P1 that was in use for one year and 5300 miles on a 2008 Civic. The oil was PP. The filter looks good. I couldn't find any tears or other defects. I even looked at it with a 10X magnifying glass. I especially looked for a "wide V" pleat near the seam. Looks OK to me.

Looks good! One or two more pleats near the seam and that's a perfect filter.

+1 Since I started cutting open and posting pics here in 2010 looks like every PL14160 I've used and posted. They've worked well on my Honda applications. Here's a link to a recent one also run on a Civic.

The OP's is an April 2012 production.

Hmmm. No tears? Are you sure it's a Purolator?

Built 4-25-2012 ... maybe before the quality went down. From the gathered date, most torn filters reported here were built from 6/2012 to 12/2013.

The most posted Purolator tear anecdote posted here by far is from 2010/11 production.

Whatever, I'll leave the speculation and amateur sleuthing to others.

Bottom line here, another indisputable positive Purolator anecdote, and this on the popular PL14610 application.

Not according to the data collected from reported tears on this site. Look at the "Date Code" and "Date Mfd" columns. There wasn't even one reported to be made in 2010. Majority were made in 2012 & 2013.
