For most Hondas, or L14459 (purolator), is there an oversized filter that will fit this spec? thank you.

Man, I totally screwed that up. I was thinking my moms car took the 14460, but it takes the 14459, which is the bigger of the two. I even went to the trouble of grabbing the Purolator page that shows both part numbers, and I still got it wrong! Completely disregard what I said.

According to the Purolator page, they're both 3.15" O.D. x 2.95" H., with different relief PSI, plus the xx59 has an ADBV, and the xx60 doesn't. Hmmm, interesting, both Purolator #'s cross to WIX 51334. That seems strange. Am I missing something? To the original question, a WIX 51344 is about 3/4" longer. \:\!

I swear the page used to have a different picture of the 14460, and a different size listed as well. People have reported size changes in Purolator filters recently, so maybe this is one of the affected filters? If you look at the Wix recommendations for a 2002 Outback, it lists a different filter for the 2.5 and 3.0, with the 2.5 filter being significantly smaller. http://www.wixfilters.com/filterlookup/i...1&TempYear=2002 For the 2.5 Part Number: 51365 Height: 2.577 Outer Diameter Top: 2.685 For the 3.0 Part Number: 51334 Height: 3.194 Outer Diameter Top: 3.252

This is an old post, but relevant here. I've got a '97 Impreza (takes the Purolator 14460 mentioned above) that's running a Motorcraft FL-400S filter. The threads in the original filter stud are M20x1.5, and 3/4x16 on the filter, so I'm using the $8 adapter discussed here

The L-20073 is the EXACT same size as the FL-400, no need for that adapter. Unless you have the room to fit the FL-1A size filter.

Both true, but for some reason the 20073 isn't available in a PureOne, just the white can Purolator. Also, I initially wanted to run the FL-1A, but found it's millimeters too wide (hits the timing belt cover). Dave

LT4, Do you mean that the thread and gasket are the same? My Nissan 2.5 requires the Purolator 14610. If I can't find it I'll use the 14459. Used to use the Puro 24458 until it was discontinued so, the 20073 is now an option.

A little work with a Dremel tool will fix that .....

The 20073 has a wider gasket compared to the 14459 and 24458 but it will work on a Honda with zero leaks. Next time you go to PepBoys take both filters out of the box and put them side by side.
