They were the a top tier tire when they were first introduced, and will work fine. Newer generation tires are "better" from an overall ride comfort, bad road conditions and mileage perspective all else equal.
I am partial to Dunlop Roadsmart III or IV tires. Yes, more expensive. However, the RS 4's are the longest lasting of any sport touring tire I have tried and the best feel/handling as well. The comparison for me is valid vs the Roadsmart 3, Roadsmart 2, Angel GT, Shinko Verge, Shinko Raven, Shinko Advance.
