It's been one of those days. This morning, we had catastrophic, fatal, weeping-and-gnashing-of-teeth failures of our DHCP, authentication, and user storage servers at work today. For all you non-geeks, that means bad news bears in a major way. The first part of the day was spent identifying the problems, the second repairing the damage and calming the users. Usually our Fridays are spent finishing up the week's duties, performing routine maintenance, surfing the 'net and watching the clock. I guess you've got to earn your pay from time to time.

Anyway, I got home and wanted a drink. Now, I usually limit myself to one (1) beer, but today I thought, "What the heck it's time for some sauce." So I pulled out the liquor cabinet and the laptop and found my way to http://www.webtender.org where I input all my ingredients (both alcoholic and otherwise) and got a list of drinks I could make. After perusing the results, I settled on this post's namesake, Pirate's Tea. What we're dealing with here is akin in taste to a Long Island Iced Tea and a cousin of the Rum and Coke, just a little more tangy and a little more sweet. I've had my share of mixed drinks, but I think I may have found my new favorite.

In a glass with a few ice cubes pour in the following order:
2 parts spiced rum (I used a mid-grade generic)
3 parts Coca-Cola (Accept no imitation)
1 part orange-juice (I like it without pulp)
You'll want to stir it gently so as not to disturb the carbonation.

What you get is 6 parts awesome.
Enjoy.

Sounds like a ladies substitute for Long island Iced Tea.

1 part vodka
1 part tequila
1 part rum
1 part gin
1 part triple sec
1 1/2 parts sweet and sour mix
1 splash Coca-Cola®

Just kidding, it sounds good.

Try the Long Island Tea too, it goes down like there was nothing in it.

That's what I really wanted, I just didn't have half the ingredients. I guess it was more of a "Poor Man's Iced Tea."

Did the trick, though. That's for sure. I was mixing the Rum pretty stout by about number 3.

This part caught my eye. I see the logic, but I never would have thought I'd hear that generic alcohol is okay but the soda must be authentic.

Either way, I think I'm going to try this. It might be the drink that draws me away from gin & tonics. Thanks for posting!

In college the girls that drank Long Island Iced Tea were the most fun. In the well, if you free poured you could turn out a Long Island in less than ten seconds. Not a bad way to get through school.
