Just had some from the local neighbors as they make them often. That and some heluski and sweet potatoes. Any of you folks make pierogis?

Mother and grandmother make them. I don't - way too much work if you want to make them right.

I just buy them - meat, [censored] and mushroom, sweet cheese, blueberry... All kinds.

Funny, how that word above was censored. I love them but try to limit them. A few places around here have excellent ones that usually swim in butter and sautéed onions. Not exactly low cal.

Let me try: Sauerkraut.

Looks like the full-and-proper name of the food is approved by the censor.

The word consisting only of the last syllable of the full-and-proper name can be considered as a slur on those of German descent, so it's a legitimate catch by the censor.

Speaking of censorship, I just noticed that I've been censored, myself!

An earlier post of mine in another thread related what I thought was a funny joke. However, it contained an asterisked version of a 3-letter word that is used in the Bible to identify a donkey, but that I used for a different purpose. That post has been deleted. Nobody said anything to me, it's just gone. Oh well; them's the rules.

My parents are from Polska and I grew up eating eating them all the time. My favorite is my moms spinach and artichoke dip filled ones, they are smaczny!

There's a guy here that will argue it's better in Castrol and another guy who will tell you to use Shell Ultra or a German synthoil.

I just buy the frozen ones, the old Mrs T never let me down

Related to unrelated discussion in the thread, I once posted what I thought was a good value in the rebates and sale forum. The sale was at BJ's Wholesale Club. The title was BJ's. Post was immediately deleted. Mod and I had a laugh, but it was pretty annoying to re-post it in order to share.

Funny to read this post I just pulled some cabbage pierogi out of the freezer for morning breakfast. Pierogi is both singular and plural in polish "Pierogis" is an incorrect pronunciation.
My mother made Pierogi yesterday for the holiday dinners,I have made them and they were decent but in West Michigan and I go often to Detroit too high quality ones are not that expensive so I usually have the freezer stocked, potatoe, cabbage, farmers cheese and others are the best!
TOTO.

Mrs. T's not available here darn it. Looks tasty. I saw pierogis also called varenyky.

Out of the store bought pierogi, try the "Alexandra" brand. They are a chicago based company, but available in certain specialty grocery stores around the country.

With my dad (RIP) being Lithuanian, I grew up with the tasty dumplings. Potato or ground meat filling for us. Going to have to put the bug in my mom's ear the next time we visit.

Recently made some pierogi, they turned out great but like anything the more you do it the better you get, I made a filling of 1 pint small curd cottage cheese, one raw egg and onion just like my Mother does, but next time the filling will be cheesy potato, I think pierogi taste better the next day.
Thanks TOTO.
