I took a Honda(S2000), Napa and a Baldwin filter apart to see what difference(not just size) there is between the three. I use Baldwin filters on all my toys. The canister thickness of the filters were, Honda-0.028, Baldwin-0.024 and the Napa filter Napa-0.019 all three filters were well made. The gasket on the oil filters are, Honda and Napa ID 2.170 OD 2.450 the Baldwin is bigger at ID 2.455 OD 2.800.
I like to use oversize filters when I can and the big Baldwin lets me run 1 more qt. of oil in my '06 S2000 than the stock Honda filter does.

Thanks for the pics, I was laughing at how big that Baldwin filter is compared to the others. I am amazed it fits!

What is the the P/N for the Honda filter? I might try one. Thanks

The Honda filter is a Filtech and it has no p/n on the filter, it was on the wrapper that the filter came in. I believe the Honda p/n for it is 15400-PCX-004. On a S2000 the oil filter comes out the side of the block not the bottom of the block. The big Baldwin will NOT fit if the filter goes straight down off of the block.

The height of Baldwin B7042 is almost double the Honda PCX-004 filter, 5.45” vs 2.95". If there is a filter with height of about 4-4.5" I'll try it in my S2000.

I could not find a filter with a by-pass that was high enough for the "S" in the size you want. I have over 36k miles with the Baldwin B7042 filters. The B7042 has a 14 psi by-pass and the B202(which is the same size as the B7042 filter) has a 20 psi by-pass.

I may try Purolator L34480, which is the same as Mann W840, cross reference to Baldwin B7042 in the S2000, if I can find one locally.

I think a Wix 51182 might fit the "S" to, I haven't went down to look yet because I have 6 Baldwin B7042 filters to use first and that's over 42k miles of driving. The by-pass is a little stiff but if you cut open the stock Honda filter for the S2000 you will find out that it has a very stiff by-pass spring.

I would not use the PUROLATOR L34480 if it has only four oil holes in the end plate(that won't let enough oil through it to keep the oil pressure up at high rpm's).

That is my concern too, the picture shows only 4 small holes on the end plate. I still have 4-5 PCX-004 filters, I'll look into how/where to buy Baldwin B7042 when I use the last PCX-004 filter.

Hummm ... looks like the Purolator L34480 is really a MANN filter with a Purolator sticker on it.

Purolator shows only 11 applications this filter is used on:

Wix has more applications for the 51182 filter. Both gas and diesel engine's.

But like I said, I don't know if the gasket is the same size as the gasket that's on the Baldwin B7042 filter, if it's larger then it may not seal on the engine. I know the Baldwin seals up good on my "S" and it's a little bit bigger than the gasket that's on the stock filter.

HTSS,
Took a while but I found one. LOL
Take a look at the Wix 51324 filter, it's a little shorter than the Baldwin that I use but bigger than the stock Honda filter for the "S".

Thanks rrounds,

I also found Wix 51568, it is about 1" longer than OEM filter with similar diameter. I may try both to see which one fits better.

I have a 2001 Acura cl-s with the 3.2 v6. Will the Baldwin b202 filter fit? It mounts at an angle on the passenger side near the wheel well. If not, what is the biggest balwin that will fit? This video shows a similar car.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know if it will fit your car or not. You have to have enough room for the filter so it won't hit anything on the car or if you run over something on the road. You don't want to hit some thing on the road and have it take out your oil filter, that can get expensive very quickly.

On a S2000 the oil filter comes off the side of the block about 2 feet off the road so it would be almost imposable to hurt the filter by hitting road debris.

Sorry I couldn't be of any help to you,
