Picking up my new Ram tomorrow

Do some research online to see what the warranty actually costs the dealer. Also there is probably a dealer somewhere that sells them near cost as well. You can get a RAM extended warranty from any dealer in the bumper to bumper warranty period.
Are you going to blow through the mileage on the factory warranty in 2 years? If you do a lot of miles then an extended warranty may be a less bad idea.

Congrats!

I'm loving my 2017 Ram express quad cab 4x4 3.6L. I picked it up used from a GMC/Buick dealer last week with ~12200 miles on it. They wanted to sell me an aftermarket extended warranty for around $3600 for it. No thanks.

The ride is great as is the turning radius. I am however still getting used to driving a "big" vehicle. It's been many years since I had a pickup as my daily driver.

I've not been through a whole tank of gas yet, but the dash computer is showing an average of 24mpg.

Yes that Max care lifetime warranty can be had for much less. I paid $2200 in 2014 through Clay @ Zellner or Zeller motors. Dealership in Kansas. My dealer wanted $4000.

The Max care lifetime is NOT transferable. The non lifetime warranties ARE transferable. Covers vehicle bumper to bumper.

Their out is if you have a repair that exceeds the blue book value of the car, they cut you a check for the value of the car and the warranty is done.

I researched it a lot before buying it. It's a solid value especially if you keep the vehicle a long time.

Do some mpg calcs with pencil and paper before you believe the dash. Both our vehicles compute 2+ mpg high very consistently. 22 would still be awesome.

Almost 31k. MSRP 40K before rebates and incentives. I couldn't get them down any lower. They really didn't want to give me anything for my old truck so I'm better off selling it myself.

Since RAM 1500 has so many trim models, which one did you get?

I only could get them down another 500 bucks. Paid 30,550. Got the most basic package they had available. NEW 2018 RAM 1500ST EXPRESS QUAD CAB 4X4 with the 3.6 VVT 6'4 BOX.. Still feels luxurious and modern by what I'm used to . I'm loving the ride, and so is my wife (she drove it back from dealer). I could have saved another 600 or so at large city dealer 2 hours from me but decided to support the small local yokels. I bump into them on daily basis due to my work. Very happy with it so far, but it's only been 5 minutes.

^ Nice! Sorry if I missed it, but what color?

Does yours have the aluminum wheels with plastic covers? Originally I thought mine were steelies with plastic covers, but it's actually aluminum wheels under the covers. I'm hoping the covers are not glued on like some of the "chrome" ones I've seen.

No they're 17inch solid aluminum (I just checked). I think it's Delmonico red pearlcoat. I almost got a silver again but decided on a change. Here's a pic of the new and the old. Will try to be more pro-active in rust prevention this time around.

Looks nice congrats.

I am glad I don't have to deal with rust issues here in Florida

If I lived in FL I would probably have saved another 4k by choosing 2WD instead.

That's a great color. Nice wheels too! I just came to the determination today that the black plastic covers are actually stuck to the aluminum with adhesive on my 2017 Ram.

He wants 3840 for it.

Use that $3840 and buy Amazon stock. In a few years you’ll have enough to buy another new Ram.

With that amount he will have enough to buy two shares.

SS, there's definitely some type of double sided tape that helps hold the black plastic covers on my 2017's 17" "aluminum" wheels. The wheel I pulled has a cracked spoke on the covers from someone trying to yank it off. I assume it's from that since it's pretty tough to curb rash these wheels given the amount of rubber around them. I didn't want to break it, so after some prying w/out the proper tools, I gave up.

It's nice to know they can be removed and replaced with chrome or back covers, or left alone.

Congrats on your new Truck! Nice color, too! We gambled on no extended warranty for our Ram, a 14 purchased new. It has needed nothing except a console latch.

Reliable, comfortable, versatile, great economy (nearly 19 mpg average now with 395 hp Hemi!) what's not to like.

I'd keep my warranty money in my account IMO.

^ Indeed on the fuel economy thing. Some co-workers of mine claim ~20mpg with their late model Hemi powered Rams. The 3.6L will do about 20% better in terms of fuel economy. The dash meter keeps leveling out around 24mpg on mine, but if I hand calculate it, it comes out a hair above 23mpg.

That ZF 8spd works like magic in these trucks. I have yet to have mine do anything stupid. Shifts at the right time and holds a gear when it should. They really are a pleasure to drive.

Truck looks nice! I can't wait for the HD trucks to move production back to the states. I hope they do a nice redesign on the HD trucks also. Those 2019 1500 have grown on me.

Very smooth ride, I'm loving it. And only averaging a few mpgs less than my 2005 suburu.
