Pick my Oil

Just got a 2026 Kia Sportage hybrid with 1.6 turbo and plan on changing oil every 5000 miles. I’ve been using Valvoline Restore and Protect in my old cars. What do you guys recommend? It calls for for 0W20.

Just run Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W-30 from the start and avoid oil burning issues, and it will simplify the oil you need you to purchase. One oil for all.

Don't use 0w20 in a turbo

Any 0w30 or 5w30 will be good
Mobil 1 0w30
Pennzoil Platinum Euro LX 0w30
Pennzoil Platinum Euro L 5w30
ST Advanced 5w30

Nothing wrong with the Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30, either

I would choose:
Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30
Castrol Edge Euro 0W-30
Valvoline European 0W-30

Doesn't Hyundai/Kia spec 30, 40, and 50 grade in the turbo gdi 1.6? I would not be using single digit kv100 cafe swill in it. Also do not extend intervals, change more frequently at 3-4k.

I had that engine, 1.6 with a turbo. I used 5-40 Euro only.

What you're running in your old cars is plenty good. Quite sufficient and you can rationalize/simplify stock on hand.

BTW I found that really winding that engine out once or twice a month blows a lot of soot out and runs better. I also recommend 89 octane as mine ran poorly on the specified 87.

Change your oil at 1k miles then do it again at 5k. Go with at least 5w-30 being a turbo
