I am not trying to kill this motor. I am using it outside of it's normal specs. I regularly sit in traffic then drive 75-80 for a couple hours which for a low geared humvee is not so nice. Then I go offroading for larger 8+ hour drives then home after a weekend of fun

I am not sure whats in it now. Whatever it is is ok sits at around 20psi while at it's hottest.

Winter use too?

I’d probably look at the synthetic versions of the off the shelf 15w-40 oils, otherwise a decent,y stout 5w-40.

75-80 is not the design for that vehicle. Probably doing it a disservice running it that way, not to mention safety of doing so. There’s no jollies to be had “torturing” a vehicle.

Treat it right and it’s a pretty well established vehicle, engine, etc.

That motor was spec'd originally for 5w30......I would honestly just run Mobil 1 0w40.......Ive seen this oil survive 300 degree temps at the track, and its cheap. I dont use it, but its fantastic for what it is......
Maybe from -20 to 60F 5w-30 is advisable.

Since the Op admittedly tortures the vehicle it doesn’t seem like a good choice for a relatively low powered engine driving at excessive speed and rpm…

I thought that year H2 used a 6.0 LS.........if so that Mobil product shines in LS motors........

I also have an h2 Fully built motor/trans. Zero problems throwing anything at this one. https://postimages.org/]upload images for free[/url]

Here she is on the rollers
The OP is an original HMMWV. Not an H2 that is likely more like a suburban.

For that engine, moving over into the slow lane will be more important than the kind of oil you put in it.

If it was me, I'd probably just use Delvac Extreme or Delo 400 XPS in 15w-40 and change it every 5k.
Agree!

Amsoil makes a HDEO 20W-50 for high-performance diesel engines. Sounds like it is made for this usage.

What year is this rig? It's it still running it's original harmonic dampner? If you are going to run it that fast I would at least spring for a Fluidampr dampner for it. The stock units tended to have the ring walk and are blamed for contributing to busted crankshafts.
