This was the 2nd and last generation SL 5w30 made with group II base oils . It looks like they changed additive suppliers when the Motorcraft oil was refomulated .

96 cents a quart while supplies last

Moly 41 - new type
Magnesium 11
Calcium 1820
Phos 959
Zinc 1363
Silicon 7
Vi @ 100c 10.95
TBN 6.2

I like this oil .

Yeh the only thing a GF-4 oil will have over this one is extreme cold advantage . As far as oxidation it would take 7500-10k to get it thick .

This one was CCV 6300 @ -30c , the GF-4 will be 4500 @ -30c .

The data sheet for this oil is already gone from the website . Vi @ 40c is 65 . Vi index 157 compared to about 163 for the new version .

The first SL TA 5w30 CCV was 4650 , had alot of polymers and an exceptionaly ugly additive pack but I still knocked out a nice 3k interval in a Cavalier engine over 2 years ago with it .

Last version of GF-3 Motorcraft for comparison

Moly 42
Magnesium 18
Calcium 2077
Phos 921
Zinc 1285
Vi 11.11
TBN 6.50

You can see if they tweek that phos just right they could still wind up with up to 1164ppm zinc for GF-4 . Time will tell as always .

One car we have with a 3 quart engine was approaching 40k miles on synlube so I cleaned it with Lubegard Flush at the end of a Synergyn interval .

Spun a new filter on , 3 bucks worth of the Phillips and 2800 miles later drained - sampled and this oil did better than M1 ever did . TBN 6 , lead zero and low low iron says the report recieved yesterday . This oil was a real sleeper .

Back on Synergyn synlube again . Will clean again @100k just for fun .
