PH4967 now an ecore?

I opened up a ph4967 box today and noticed it switched over to an ecore, I wonder being an ecore now the media spacing must be more uniform than the cut open examples seen in this forum. I also wonder if the end caps are metal (similar to the Supertech 4967). The Fram is less than 50 cents more than the Supertech and has a silicone adbv and better efficiency. I have 2 applications that use this filter.

That is incorrect & that SuperTech ST4967 is the exact same Fram PH4967 filter except for silicon ADBV that comes on the Fram. It is ISO tested at 95% @20um. May have to cut one open, after using, it to see.

SuperTechs are claimed to be 99% @ 30u (right on the box). Probably about the same as 95% @ 20u. PH still might be slightly more efficient.

I don't care what the marketing says... You know I roll with ISO testing standards for an exact model. Like I said, I've looked at both Fram PH4967 & SuperTech ST4967. They are exactly the same except for Fram having the silicon ADBV.

FRAM Extra Guard® oil filters deliver advanced engine protection for everyday drivers who perform routine oil changes at OE (original equipment) recommended intervals. Equipped with SureGrip® technology, FRAM Extra Guard® oil filters provide a non-slip surface allowing for easy install and removal. The silicone anti-drain back valve ensures safe engine startups, extending the life of the oil filter for up to 10,000 miles (16,000 kilometers).

  • Proven protection for up to 10,000 miles (16,000 kilometers)
  • Engineered for use with synthetic or conventional motor oils
  • SureGrip® technology for easy install and removal
  • Filter media is a blend of fiber and resin that captures 95% of the dirt particles
  • Silicone anti-drain back valve helps ensure safe engine start up
*FRAM Group testing of average filter efficiency of PH8A, PH3387A and PH4967 under ISO 4548-12 for particles greater than 20 microns.

Even the ones with rock catcher efficiency, lol.
Yes, Any ISO testing data is good to know.
Where's a C&P that shows they are identical?
Go to WM & look at both then come back here to update your findings if you're curious. Otherwise you'll need to cut both.

Wasn't it Fram that claimed their media was already efficient enough & all that was needed to update to a higher mileage claim on the boxes was to upgrade to a silicon ADBV? Point is I doubt Fram/Champ changed the media on the ST4967. Especially knowing they'd already ISO tested it so there is little incentive to change it for the ST model.

Here's the ST4967 C&P

Also, I have an ST4967 I'll be cutting fairly soon hopefully by early Nov.

Some Fram PH models have swapped back and forth between Champ Labs ecore with metal end caps and Fram steel core and fiber end caps. Maybe that's the case here, or could be some models will remain Champ Labs design.

Received topic filter today. Made 9/11/24. Looks very good, clean threads, looks clean inside by eye. I may order another on subscribe for less and open it just to see what they have been up to. I see some clear glue down in the bottom, small amount. The pleats are even on the inside, no wide spaces. I get the impression this comes direct from Fram or Amaz has a warehouse with fresh ones.
The box seems to have no info about the % efficiency, but mentions they tested other economy and oes competitors. They say they are superior, of course what would they say, inferior? They say at 20 microns. The filter is the same size as the Toyota N1, shorter than others of this size. I like it.

Looks good, appears to be the same as ST4967 construction wise except for the silicone adbv. The pleats have to be uniform since it's an ecore now.
