Off of a 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer 2.4 for 8 months~ & 3,100~ miles. Used with Quartz 9000 Xtra Future FGC 0W-20. Car is currently at 49,169 miles.

Same exact filter & oil went back in. I’ll probably run this new filter for a year & just suction out & refill oil at the halfway point.

Has a "21" at the beginning of the date code ... could be a relatively old filter.

Great work. Thank You

What is the gritty/sandy looking stuff at the bottom of the can? Have you experienced that prior?

Asking as I had the same in my daughter-in-laws Tucson when I changed it first time at about 18k IIRC. Indy shop had done it prior.

Carbon AFAIK, this vehicle specifically seems to have more than any of the other 3 I deal with. Here’s one of the previous filters: https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/champ-ph2867xl-c-p.382315/#post-6875354

Some things I’ve read say your car is going to blow up, some things I’ve read say everything’s fine. Car runs perfect 🤷‍♂️

Might have more enrichment on cold starts and more ring blow-by. Seen more carbon like deposits in the winter time when the cold starts are richer for longer.
