Have any of you guys tried this stuff ?

I'm thinking about trying it on the rubber transmission pan gasket next time. Even though the pan is perfectly straight, and even though I used a torque wrench to tighten the bolts, the gasket still leaks.

On the OE rubber gasket? No need. If it's leaking, then your gasket is junk- get a new one or your pan is messed up. Aftermarket rubber gaskets suck (Accept for the ATP molded rubber ones with the metal core). The fiber gasket in the ATP kits is pretty good. Install them clean and dry.

The best thing for your transpan is a O.E. style metal impregnated rubber gasket of that's what it had originally. These are usually reusable in which case I reuse at work when possible

I think you want this: Gasket Makers

Gasket sealers are nice to keep the gasket in place for installation. Some times it can be tough to line up the gasket, hold the part in place, and put the bolts in all at the same time. The sealers will 'glue' the gasket in place - freeing up a hand.

I find that using a torque wrench on non-metal gaskets to be a bit tricky.

The gasket compresses initially and can then relax a bit (IMO). You can then retorque them multilple times with the T wrench and ruin the gasket. Torque to 12 ft. lb./relax/torque to 12 ft. lb/again........crushed.

"When" I tried using a torque wrench for a rubber/fiber only gasket, what worked is to use the torque wrench to get the bolts initially tightened to the spec. evenly.

Then, if the gasket still oozes, tighten each bolt and equal amount (1/8 to 1/4 turn) to see if it stops. You may have to do this several times over a week or two, using "feel" as your guide.

Merk, did you try to retighten it at all.

Also, Felpro gaskets are awesome. Packaged in flat boxes, very thick and robust, a cut above cheap kit gaskets.

I still have the original gasket and two replacement gaskets that are identical to the original gasket. One replacement gasket is a Fel-Pro from NAPA and the other is a no-name from Trans Parts Inc. They're the rubber kind with the plastic grommets in the bolt holes and the steel reinforcement shim in the middle.

The OEM gasket never leaked a single drop until I decided to change the fluid and filter.

doitmyself, I tried re-torquing the bolts, but they were not loose at all.
