Perma-Cool Transmission Filter Installation

I am thinking of installing a Perma-Cool transmission filter kit on my 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis and my wife's 2004 Nissan Sentra. But I have a couple of installation questions.

My car:
My transmission lines are metal, and I see that the kit comes with two adapters, which connect to the line fitting and the connector on the radiator, so I can then attach the rubber hoses. However, when the line is removed, there will be little room to attach the rubber hoses. So for this, what would be the best option for adjusting the transmission line?

Wife's car:
Her's has rubber hoses going from the cooler to the transmission. Could I just remove that hose and use the hoses supplied with the kit?

Filter:
Are the filters that come with the kit worth the cost? Would an Amsoil EAO filter be fine as a replacement?

Your car: You only need to offset the metal line (effectively shortening it) ...bend, gently, as needed. Try and think on more than one plane (dog legs, etc.)

Wife's car: Yes, assuming that the lines are the same size.

Filter: No ..the filter isn't worth it. An Amsoil EaO is better.

Thanks dude, I was thinking I'd have to bend it a little. A 45 degree turn to the right should offset it enough. Would there be a way that I could cut the line (in the event that I bend it too much and it snaps) and then move the connection about a foot down?

You could cut the line, but then you won't have the flare and probably little nipple on the end that help keep the hose on.

Of course you must make sure of the direction of ATF flow when you plumb in the filter head.

I used the amsoil dual head bypass filter mount for my transmission filter; works great but you need a lot of room to fit it in there.

You can also use a hard line fitting that uses a ferrel, instead of having to put a flare on the line. Most parts stores carry this type of fitting.

I'd use synthetic AT fluid and forget the filter.

Already using Amsoil ATF, and will continue to do so. I am, for sure, going to put a filter on my wife's car, since her's just has a cheap strainer that catches nothing. Mine has the typical OEM filter, and while a better filter would help out, I am not as concerned about putting one on there just yet.

you can buy a pipe cutting tool, and a flare tool.
They are very cheap at harbor freight.
