Perma-Cool sandwich adapter?

I've seen the sandwich filter adapter at the Perma-Cool site http://www.perma-cool.com/Catalog/Cat_page28.html Their catalog #182 would work for my 1996 Buick Park Avenue. Howver, I am wondering about the design, and thought someone here might have some insight.

I want to use this for a bypass oil filter. Since it is sandwiched between the oil filter (flull flow) and the oil filter landing, this is the question: Does the oil flow fully through the filter below (full flow) without restriction? In other words I don't want it taking oil from the oil filter landing, to the bypass, and THEN back to the full flow oil filter for the engine. Does oil also go right on through to the full flow below?

Hope that is not too confusing. I can understand where 50+ lbs of pressure drives the oil from the outisde to the inside in a full flow filter and then to the rest of the engine. However, if you take ALL the oil to a bypass filter then there wont' be enough flow for the engine in that manner.

No, the sandwich only takes about 2lbs off the full flow. It is the best way to do it if you are worried about bleeding too much flow off.

The main thing you have to worry about is clearance for fitting the filter on top of the sandwich. Sometimes that can be an issue to where it just won't fit, ground clearance, whatever.

I belive I have the clearance for it. I'm currently using the longer 3980 filter in place of the 3387A (short version) that it calls for. When I use the sandwich I will go back to the short filter. I only have the long one on there to increase filter ability. With the bypass system the full flow filter takes second seat.
