Went to PepBoys todaywhile they were redoing oil filter section. They now carry K&N and a large selection of Fram. Purolator selection reduces and placed on bottom shelves.

Mine did the same thing, and they no longer carry the Royal Purple filters.

I even asked, they said they weren't stocking them anymore due to low sales.

There goes the neighborhood.

Fram does know how to dominate in shelf space.

Looks like more Puro biz for Advance, Kmart and Amazon.

I visit AAP regularly, while I see informational promo signs for the new-ish Bosch DP, with possible exception of Fram, the P1 and Classic still hold the predominate amount of application slots/space. BDP only a small part of the apps/space, solid filter, but ~2x the price of the P1.

And, Kmart now carries a very decent selection of applications of P1 and Classic. Interestingly though, the Classic's tend to run a little cheaper at AAP, while the P1 is less at Kmart.

You can also get Purolator at Sears in the automotive department. Higher priced than K-Mart, but at least another source if you don't have a K-Mart close.

FRAM must pay more for self space then the others, thereby forcing them out.

FRAM really does know how to make all of us BITOG'ers and other web sites eat their words. With all of the FRAM bashing all over the net, Im surprised that FRAM Oil Filters didn't loose more customers. I'm sure they lost some, me for one(I'll take a FRAM only if it comes with an oil/filter change special) but, every time I am in a store buying oil/filters, I see people loading up on FRAM's even at full price as compared to Puro's on sale.

I realize this is Bitog and it hurts to admit it, but Fram sells more than the others. Retail stores don't care about quality they care about making money. They load shelves with what moves the fastest.

A little OT, my Walmart doesn't carry PU anymore. It could be the greatest oil in the world, but it wasn't moving, so out the door it went.

Oh indeed!
I have noticed that W*M also has eliminated may of my favorite products from medications to toiletries. I had my favorite cologns, mouthwash and other personal, home and car care products. So apearently the products that I like most isn't shared by others.

Did they lower the price on the Royal Purple Filters? If so I'll go stock up.

That's what I'm wondering. Is anyone seeing certain filters there going on sale/clearance? The nearest PB is about 15 minutes away and nowhere near anything else I normally go, so I don't want to drive out there for nothing. :)

You must not live in an urban area. Call 'em up before headin' out.
