I have been running the Ultra Platinum for about 3,500 miles on the King Ranch and have been quite impressed. The truck had an oil burning problem with Valvoline Maxlife where I'd lose a qt. every 1,000 miles like clockwork. No leaks anywhere. Switched to PUP and have added a 1/2 qt in 3,500 miles. The truck performs better and I have seen a 0.7 MPG increase since switching.

Now comes an interesting problem.

The company I work for sells SOPUS products and of course PUP is the top-shelf oil. Being an employee, I get PUP for a very nice price. However, I will be changing careers soon and well PUP seems to be hard to come by.

It's in none of the stores around here (O'R, Walmart, AZ, or AAP) and when I find a select few results online I'm seeing up to $20 per QUART.

Any options? This oil has been the perfect option so far and I am a Valvoline mainly guy.

Walmart.com used to ship it out to you in 5 quart jugs for very cheap. Its hit or miss though, for some reason the supply of it is not reliable. Try 5 quart jugs of it on Amazon.com too.

Buy online Walmart.com Free shipping $50 and up, so just buy two jugs at a time

Amazon has a case of 6 quarts for $56, and it can be even less with subscribe and save

Can't you order from a nearby or even out of state Walmart that carries the 5 jugs of Pennzoil Platinum / Pennzoil Ultra Platinum for $28 and have them shipped for free if your order is over $50? Then you can subtract $20 in annual rebates on 2 jugs to drop the price further. If you get a better price from your employer buy a 2-3 year supply now.

$27.97 for 5 quarts is great thanks!

Forgot about Wal-Mart's ship to store which eliminates shipping costs.

Dang it, you are a few weeks late with your question... During the month of December I accumulated about 100 quarts of Ultra in various weights from my local AutoZones on clearance at only $2 a quart. Word has evidently gotten out and they are all pretty much wiped out now...

I ordered through wal-mart for ship to store, don't know why I forgot. Totally would stockpile if my employer would let me purchase a 24qt eco-box which they will not.

I was thinking the same thing.

Walmart.com has free shipping to your home if your order is over $50. Amazon.com has similar shipping deals if you spend enough OR sign up for Prime.

Of course the best way to get Pennzoil Platinum and/or PUP is free. The bitog user name genafishbeck from Pennzoil had a program for a while where they would just give away their oil to you, shipped to you, with a free Blackstone kit too.
I don't know if they are still doing that, so hit or miss there.

Walmart is the best way to go for PU at the moment free shipping on orders over $50 and their prices seem pretty good. It sells out fast though.

Good to know. Glad it worked for you and hopefully it works for me. I'm in the same boat as you (oil burning problem, was using maxlife before, recently switched to PUP). Too soon to notice if the oil burning problem has gotten any better though.
As far as purchasing PUP- I bought mine on amazon. I also have a prime account which makes it easier. If you find yourself using amazon quite often I'd advise to invest in prime.

That's got to be a temporary ring-sticking problem that finally loosened some ring deposits, freeing the oil control ring and maybe the top rings too. Because the change is just too dramatic. If you went back to Valvoline, it would still be fine. Now it could be the PUP freed the rings, giving credit maybe. Pennzoil does claim cleaner ring packs with that oil.

You now have the option of buying online exclusively and furthermore you can have them ship it to either the nearest store to you or if that is not available as an option the closest store they can ship it to (necessitating a minor road trip for you), directly to your domicile and if that is not an option then a PO Box as an FYI Fed Ex and I believe USPS has curtailed delivery to apartment offices, AFAIK) (and NO, I shed my skin in a house or a bungalow as it is called in other "climates" and "atmospheres")

I'm fixing to contact Discount Tire Direct and score on a smoking deal if I play my cards right.

Have you tried Valvoline Synpower? Just wondering if it would give the same results as PUP. Thats a pretty dramatic decrease in consumption. Any other change point?

I just bought some Pennzoil Ultra Platinum at my Walmart near me.. This one usually never has it here at my store. It was on the top shelf and in the back of the shelf. I saw 4 of them 7 months ago. I'm guessing this is the last one of them. So I went ahead and bought it. I'm about 100% it will not be on the shelves again. Irritating. The one in my old home town in Gloucester has it and the one in Mechanicsville has it. Yet the one 5 minutes away doesn't.

I called the AZ near me and inquired about some oil or another (probably GC) and they alerted me of the 6 quart bottles of PUP on clearance at another AZ a bit farther away. A few days later, I swooped in and there they were, lined up in one of the racks without a price tag in front. I knew right then and there they were the ones and sure enough, they rang up at 2.00 each! What a score! I was never a PZ guy (fathers oil he uses on Camry) until I used a Pennzoil conventional to top off my previous 10k monster OCI! (see sig)

Interesting. One of the locations in my area has it in 5w30, but it says that shipping is not available. Is it saying that for anyone else? I wouldn't mind trying some of this in our new Celica. Even though it's back-specced for 5W-20/0W-20, these engines are known for oil burning and I'll probably stick with the thicker grade.
