Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Pricing

As others have mentioned, the prices are higher when sold from third-party sellers. For whatever reason, PUP (esp in 5w-30) goes out of stock for awhile all the time, and then returns back to in stock at some point. Even prior to the pandemic this was an occasional issue, but is worse and seems to last longer now.

To get an idea of what the "regular" price would be when in stock, just look at the 5W-20 ($32.52), which is sadly up from the ~$25 from last year (and $20.57 on sale in 2020!).

Also note that if you're looking to also get the rebate this year, the pennzoil rebate excludes Amazon (but not Walmart or walmart.com) so your cheapest option would be to wait until it gets back "in stock" from walmart. I say "in stock" (quotes) here, because when I ordered it last month, it appeared to me that it was drop shipped from a Pennzoil facility (via OnTrac in Phoenix,AZ), and not from a Walmart location that I recognize as typical in prior years - making me further think they have supply issues.

FWIW, amazon.com seems to have even more trouble keeping 5w-30 PUP in stock. This year, by the time I saw a price alert, it's already sold out again by the time I check the page (<30-mins after the alert). IME, Walmart.com however is usually able to keep it in stock for 3-4 weeks before going OOS again.

What has happened with Pennzoil's Ultra Platinum pricing?

It was around $25 on Amazon (and Walmart) and now it's over $50 for a 5 quart jug.

Castrol and M1 have had some minor pricing fluctuations, but nothing like Pennzoil.
The more it costs the better it must be.

Amsoil Signature 5W-30 is cheaper with the preferred membership right now than the PUP.

One quart of Amsoil is $11.89.

No chance I'm spending that on a single bottle of PUP, but I get it if you buy 3 jugs....that's a good deal, done that before.

There's the PENNZOIL rebate to help lower cost . $20 gift card with purchase of 2+ 5 quart jugs or 10+ quart bottles . Should be less than $11 a quart with discount .

The prices are not just the 3rd party sellers but also Amazon themselves. They have the Pennzoil Platinum Euro L 5 qt 3pk for $154.81 but a single jug is only $26.44.... no one in their right mind would pay that, you can literally buy 6 singles for just slightly over the same cost. I should've gotten more of this when Walmart carried it but they have largely removed it from their shelves and now you cannot find it locally.

For the first time saw PUP on our walmart shelf, like ever. Bought 2 for $29 in April, got rebate honored with $30.

~$10 per 5 Quart jag, $2 per quart - not too shabby.

Amazon sometime does this crazy things, when they heavy discount one selling option for a single product, and keeping others combo high prices for the same product, which makes no sense. Same seller - Amazon

I get a price of $37.12 for a 5-quart jug of the 5W-30 Euro Oil when I click the Link.
$32 here, but I don't have prime.

NAPA wants $60+ for a 5qt of it right now, kinda nuts.

I still haven't found anything better for the 5w40 Euro than the Amazon 6x1qt pack. It's rough out there even with the rebate.

NAPA, Advance Auto, which was once Trak Auto, we also had Hi Gear and Pep Boys, they are kind of high with their prices. These stores were awesome in the 80's and 90's.

NAPA in my area just does not want to give up, meaning they still advertise. I am not sure about Advance Auto, I do remember getting the Sunday Section of the Washington Post and looking at the Trak Auto and Hi Gear Supplement!

$32.51 for five quarts including delivery is “out sight in presence and price”?

Granted I’d rather buy the Euro L on the shelf for $26.44, that one has BMW Longlife-04 approval and a dexos2 license.
Where are you seeing Pennzoil Euro L on the shelf?

I just bought Pennzoil Ultra Platinum for $29.44 off the shelf at Walmart. Rebate submitted, still pending. Not sure where people are seeing these high prices.

NAPA is a good value for their branded oil and has okay pricing on Valvoline. Terrible for oil otherwise.

AAP/AZ are only good if you do their oil change bundle, but their websites are really bad at showing "compatible" oils (which you have to use to get the oil filter for bundle pricing). I can't get them to give me bundle pricing on 5w30 PUP or 5w40 Euro, at least with any of the cars I'd use a filter for.

Usually I buy oil from Walmart and filters/washers from NAPA.

At the time my local Walmart still had it on the shelf. It is no longer there. I just get ESP now.

Who really runs PUP for the full 20k?? No one. Just buy ST full synthetic 5w-30 ($18) for a once a Year OCI and sleep well. PUP doesn’t offer any additional benefits for a shorter OCI.
