Believe me, the"smoothness" is all your imagination.
I recently changed the oil in my friend's Corolla using
some cheap Shop Rite oil, and it seems to feel a bit
"smoother" even with 1.99/qt oil!

Its all in your head, guys!

I tend to believe this as well. Over the years using the oil I do I don't see any differance in noise, so called start up smoothness, or any change between my usual 10k OCI and new oil.

I'm split between Amsoil and Pennzoil Ultra for my next Stratus OC. I kinda want the 0w30, its kinda cold here right now, but Pennzoil Platinum is already kinda close to that, I doubt it would make much of a difference.

Dieseltech I agree in your head or not so what the point is we take care of vehicles then most of the population and I would venture to guess the same people that tell us were crazy most likely will try the oil in the future hopeing for the same results

Oh yes, you know they will. All of the hype is eating at them to take a road trip to eat up the current OCI.

This is how I feel! I have the Ultra and am eager to use it. I almost dumped the Schaeffer's early, but I don't want to waste good oil. I drive 1000 miles a week, so it won't take long :)

The Ranger. We don't put too many miles on the Corolla.

I'll definitely try this oil in the future if it appears to be an improvement over PP or will go longer. I'm hoping to push PP over 10k right now so I can do only 2 changes a year on my Grand Prix. If PU will look better on the longer OCI's then I'll give it a try if the PP doesn't seem to be holding up. We'll see. No point in paying extra if I don't need it however, I've been very happy with the PP so far.

I think it will do just fine, really. The prior installment in my truck 03 burb lt 5.3 V8, (one of three trucks), was Pennzoil Platinum, it cleaned this engine out!!! Overall the truck is in excellent shape, but Penn platinum, just polished up things, and now the penn ultra, its the cherry on the top! I have used Amsoil for quite a few years, and I must tell you, it gives off Amsoil like vibes! My weekly mileage, averages between 1400-1500 miles, all of which is hwy. The penn platinum did extremely well, and their new ultra line supercedes that, IMHO.NO VALVE CHATTER, NOTHING!It seems as though the motor is spinning on butter as it turns over. Also I have noticed on the pour point number for penn ultra 10w30 (-39) it is 6 numbers higher than the penn platinum (-33). Penn Ultra's 5w30 is rated at a -45 pour point. Excellent product, don't believe the hype otherwise!!! All I do is just feather the gas pedal, the engine is so responsive and smooth. I brought the last six qts in one local Walmart, I couldn't wait for the 5 qt jug. Be well!

I just installed 6 qts of the 10w30 with a extra capacity Mobil 1 M-1 206 OIL FILTER, rather than the required Mobil 1 M-1 107 oil filter. Most all of my mileage is 99% hwy, I average out to roughly 25 mpg, with this truck, on the hwy, not bad at all, in fact excellent. The results and response is absolutely wonderful! I started up this morning, and I didn't hear any tapping and or any cold related temporary valve chatter. This oil is beautiful!!!!

Are you serious? no offense, but I believe I know the difference between a fresh oil/oilfilter change and what the ultra has yielded for an initial response, come on now! I have used Amsoil for years. There is a difference, it really is. Even with the penn platinum numbers, they speak for themselves. My truck is running different even from the penn platinum. So its not a mental thing. Eventually the numbers will speak for themselves, once again. I know from experience! Take care

the nerves in your body must be shot...

if you can' feel it...thats too bad.

LOL!! yeah right, I avoid the gummy bear group I oils, they absolutely have no place in my motor. But to each his own (from a practical standpoint). Just imagine the additives in a group I oil Walgreens/CVS oil, yikes! These days, one has more profound selections and or choices of various oils, whereas several years ago, this was not always the case. Best Regards!

The Amsoil 0w30 is an excellent product, however, I would opt for the Penn Ultra, due to otc availability, and price. This product is an excellent buy for the money, with stout protection, it really is. Best wishes on your final selection!

Absolutely! If one truly opts to take care of their machine it shall do likewise for you. Other than that it isn't that complicated. abuse your vehicle, and one day it will let you down, when you LEAST EXPECT IT. Besides, I am dedicated to my cars and trucks. I just don't feel the need to keep buying new every 3-4 years, it is totally unneccessary. In fact, I like the notion of a good well cared for late model used vehicle. Be well all!

Johnny, retirement sounds like a happy place!

This PU hype is getting the better of me. I know, it's all hype and placebo, but that's what us humans fall for time and again.

I just might have to make the 45 minute drive to the walmart across the border in Ogdensburg for a new and exciting weekend adventure!

These guys act as though technology in a very modern society, is not changing things, (NEW FLASH)well it is, and motor oil is one of them. Computer technology alone is changing by the day, if not by the hour.
