I have been keeping an eye on the Oil Locator at the Pennzoil website, and saw last week that there were far more locations offering Ultra nearby than had been previously.

So, I went to the local Evil Empire (Wal Mart) and...they had none. Not in the auto section, camping, end caps, anywhere. Ok, by me- I try not to buy there anyway.

Next, I went to Auto Zone. They have Ultra in quart bottles only- no jugs- at $8.49 a quart, or a dollar more per quart than the other synthetic oils. They only carry 5W30 and 10W30. The interesting thing? The stock was already low on the shelves. I ended up buying 4 quarts of 5W30, as my owner's manual says 5W20, 5W30 and 10W30 are all acceptable. Next time, I will check Advance and see if they have a better selection, as I'd really like to stick with 5W20.

I wonder if Ultra buyers are really PP buyers stepping up, or of they are selling a lot of Ultra to people that usually buy other brands.

You know I think the marketing dept. really dropped the ball here. Time to change how they are selling the product, and to who is getting the most product. I think Wally does not want PU and the other outlets do not know how to buy the product re,the customer who might buy a more expensive product. Edge seemed to play it different, with Wally not in the picture. I always said: it is not the initial order that matters most but the re orders.I cannot imagine which Wally will re order the PU. Most Auto zones and even Advance mgr. seem to look for the easy way out. They love to stock GTX in 5-30 because it sells very well. Anything that needs more thought seems to confuse them, who by the way all look as if they are afraid of losing their jobs.

I was at Pep Boys a few weeks ago, I was talking with one of the guys working there, he had never heard of Pennzoil Ultra.
