I bought 6 quarts of Pennzoil 5W50 synthetic for for $1.99 The label does not say PP, just "Synthetic" Also it is SL rated, and has 57238 as a product number on bacl label.

Anyone know how to discipher the date code on these bottles? I would like to know how old it is

This is probably the stuff with Pennzane in it, right? Sorry, can't help on the date codes but I bet it's probably from the early 2000's. Did you get it from K-Mart or something? I still see that stuff there at the "bargain" clearance price of $5/quart.

I found it a a grocery store that was clearing old inventory. I may use it in my BMW, or maybe mix it with some other Pennzoil Platinum 10W30 to thin it out a bit. Not sure...maybe in the Honda lawn mower. It should have lots of zinc with the SL rateing

I saw some of that oil in a Big K in Ft Lauderdale FL and I was shocked to see it, I'm guess a person returned their old quarts for some new oil.

Does not say Performax. Some bottles have date code on bottom and hard to read:
SHVP1013031059L357238-6

Other have it on the side of bottle:
HLPA188966 12313 02:23
