I think it has a lot more to do with cost ($) more than anything but getting consistent quality is good. Thanks!
I'd be amazed if far higher quality pg made filters are cheaper than oh mann a hummel : ( filters are in bulk for these companies.
A lot of PG type filters being made in places like Vietnam or China keeps prices lower I would think anyways. M+H made those Pennzoil filters that as far as I saw were basically re-branded Purolators being made in the USA mostly. Think it had a lot to do with cost going up during 19 that drove a lot of businesses to seek lower costs elsewhere. Also, Purolator can afford to increase costs & PG being sort of the new kid on the block for big business. I suppose I can also speculate that during that time USA was locked down so some of these companies would need to seek other countries for supplies. I think it's safe to say it could be a combination of forces happening that prompted them to change.
