Hi-Ho Silver!
Seems good but they suggested solder compound on the newer engine, but I've seen many new engines with 0. Cause for concern?

Odd they would call 56K "new engine" wear metals. I wonder if a W-30 would give lower metals. Just a hunch.

To each his own, and I am not judging but wonder why a PP with only 4k on the OCI? Just me but you could be just as good with an ST or comparable with under 5k OCI.

My F150 is an 85%+ highway truck and it was an extended break in....It did not realize the best gas mileage until over 30k. I'm calling that break in. My UOA's show iron wear a little high as well during this period. I'm doing 6k OCI's so I moved to ST synthetic. Your Nissan is a little harder on oil though than my 5.0.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is ST oil?
I change it around 4k because of the GDI. It smells and looks terrible. Book calls for 5k interval under "normal" droving anyway so i figure for my own peace of mind, I'll do ot every 4k.

I did want to switch to a 30 weight and see how it does, but didnt this change.

Super Tech (Sold in Walmart)

I haven't thought of using Wal-Mart's oil for my daily drivers, IMO, it smells so terrible I assumed its not the best. I do use it in my project cars though. What do you guys think of high silver? The motor is definitely broken in by now, and it gets plenty of revs.

ST is Super Tech. It is an excellent oil at an excellent price point. Check out the numerous posts here and the UOA's. I have the same level of ignorance; I did not realize your Pathfinder was a GDI. That does make a difference. I do not have any form of DI but if I did, even a TGDI, a quality oil with a 5k OCI would be my route.

Now I have heard everything. Oil selection by smell? Come on man. I'm not an ST user but this is ridiculous.

Have you ever smelled gear oil? I'm not sure how you'd pick any gear oil, because they all smell horrible.

Is that how oil quality is tested? By smell?

Just my thought process lol. To me, it doesnt smell like oil, almost sour. Just odd to me so I never used it regularly.
