Pennzoil 5 qt vs 1 qt bottle labeling

I just picked up some PUP, and noticed the 5qt bottle has different manufacturers spec than the 1qt bottle. They both meet API SP but for example the 5qt meets ford's WSS-M2C961-A1, and the 1qt meets WSS-M2C946-A. Does this just depend on when the table was printed? I assume the formula is the same

I would think the quart bottle is older. I was actually thinking of trying Pennzoil Ultra.

I say you are correct. When product was made and label printed is it. The product in the bottles are likely the same.

WSS-M2C961-A1 is the newer spec, the other being a quart bottle is not a huge seller and is most likely a lot older and the only way to know is comparing the date codes.

Thanks. I would assume the formula to achieve the API rating is consistent. And they just retest to new manufacturer specs as they come out.
