Penn Platinum reduced oil consumption

My 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan has just under 44K miles. It was using 1/2 to 3/4th of a a quart of oil in about 1200 miles (Havoline and Motorcraft).
I have used 1/2 to 3/4 of a quart of oil in 4K miles using Pennzoil Platinum. This is a major reduction in oil consumption. I intend to do 6K OCI's. When the oil level gets to the "add" mark, I will add one quart.

Although that does not sound to excessive, is there a reason why this was not addressed while the vehicle was under warranty, and maybe it still is? My 3.3L uses not a drop in 3k.

Larry, that engine shouldn't use much oil. We have the same engine and the level of consumption over my 5k OCIs cannot be measured on the dip stick. I was using Pennzoil conventional, but just switched to Valvoline Maxlife time time 'round. Van has just under 75k miles.

I took the van to the dealership while it was under warranty. They claim that this level of consumption is "normal". A website that I visited regarding Chrysler vehicle problems states that this is just Dodge covering their butts. Dealership said that as long as the plugs are not fouling, there is nothing Chrysler will do. At least I have the problem documented should it become more of a concern later.
In the short term, it is good to know that PP is helping the problem. In the long term, I won't buy DaimlerChrysler ever again.

As a side note, I have the 3.8 liter engine. Another gentleman in town had the same concern with his Dodge GC.

I never wait until the "Add Mark".
On my Chevy S-10, that's 1-1/2 quarts low. Being your vehicle is a couple of years old and oil-checked constantly, you should know where the half-quart low mark is. That is the mark I would suggest adding oil at.

BTW.... my consumption on the S-10 increased using the older version Group V Pennzoil Platinum. Someday, I will try the "New & Improved" Group III Platinum.
