The 13 year old Jeld-Wen slider in our beach house got closed too hard about 2 years ago and it damaged the track of the sealed mini blind inside the glass.
This is on a second floor deck so not a DIY project for me.
Same guy that did the siding in April does windows and doors quoted $2400 for a new Pella 150 slider and screen door which is an additional $100 or so.
The door itself is $1148 at Lowe's.
I'm thinking I'd rather go with a contractor who I have experience with rather than one of the Lowe's installers.
I'm thinking $2400 is probably the going price too.
Don't know much about Pella vs Jeld-Wen vs MP vs Reliabilt vs American Craftsman.
Anyone have experience with such a project?

What kind of siding? Need to cut or ?

I've installed two sliders over the years. (houses in the past). Anderson and Pella.

Seal tape over the flanges. I use screws, but I know nails are typically recommended.

Both projects varied.

First time with a quality Anderson large slider. T1-11 with trim. Remove 4" wide trim, carefully cut siding save pieces. Pull nails and have helper chuck old slider (he wanted the old aluminum junker). Install new (heavy!!, seal, trim, paint.

Second, oh boy. Will try to condense. Pella, but stupid defect I did not detect until after fully installed. High quality cedar lap siding*. But long story short original install was terrible and there was water damage at the sill. So needed to do that all up. and I actually treated the wood nearby that didn't "appear" damaged or moist. So I get it all installed and crap the thing doesn't open all the because the controller for the enclosed mini-blind is in the wrong location. I can't remember all the details, but Lowe's replaced it and gave me a refund. So I got a slider for free. The Lowe's installer was a surly bristird. I'll say that much, but competent. He was happy that I used screws, but mad that I used a couple three mixed Torx heads and Phillips. Hahahahhaha. Hey I ran out. He used the roll seal stuff too, different brand.

*Cedar siding, some I had to replace underneath, so I treated and stained. Some cracked when I pulled it back, so I had to buy new pieces anyway. I needed to go to a cedar specialist lumberyard. But in the end, perfect match.

It's a replacement slider not new construction. It's new vinyl siding and the slider is trimmed with 4" Azek. I know the guy that installed the existing one made a silly pan and sealed everything correctly.
But these guys still have to get the old one out and down the stairs...I don't know if they need to remove the Azek trim .. probably.
I'm just wondering about the overall quality of the Pella 150 series doors

Same for me both replacements but different houses over the years

Pella quality is decent but never depend on their or Lowe’s configurator they allow and Pella will build something that won’t work. This may have changed though mine was 10 years ago or so.

I never had vinyl siding so would assume siding needs to go over ears and gapped to outer window frame

For materials and install, that is a very good price for a new patio door today.

The Pella 150 series is stock at Lowe's. They probably sell thousands of them. Now we're 7 blocks from the Atlantic and 30 yards from a NJ backbay and the slider faces N/NE...it's a tough climate with Nor'easters and high winds.
But I think if it's reasonably decent quality and installed correctly it should be just fine.

I didn't know that, or rather don't know the series numbers. Ours both were custom orders obviously. For sure vinyl/polymer is the way to go.

Anyway this type of material to seal after mechanical attach
