Pela 6000 Extractor...............

For those of you using an extractor (especially a Pela), have you been able to extract, quantity-wise, what you expected to extract?

I ask because I ran my Troy Bilt mower for about 25 minutes today to finish off the gasoline that remained in the tank. After it ran dry, I let it sit for about five minutes before I used the Pela to extract the oil.

With a capacity of 20 ounces from a "dry fill," I was only able to remove 9-10 ounces.

I ask the question not out of concern for the B&S OHV engine and the Amsoil that remains in the engine, but more so out of concern as to whether the Pela will remove all of the available fluid from the transmission of my 2005 Accord V6 (should be about 3 quarts) and the transmission and diffs on my 2005 Highlander.

How much did I "pump it?" I hit the pump about 20-25 times, which should have created enough vacuum for it to suck a golf ball through 20 feet of garden hose.

Are you extractor users getting what you counted on when you change out your diffs, transmissions, and/or crankcases?

This is highly dependent on the shape of the container from which you are trying to extract fluid. For example, I use my MityVac to extract engine oil. It gets all of it out of my 530i, but due to the oil pan shape, it does not get all of it out of the Jetta - about half a quart is still left behind.
 
I've used the Pela 6000 on my BMW's 5.0 liter sump. It fills right to the 5.0 liter level-line on the side of the Pela everytime. I've never used a measuring cup to get an exact amount, but I assume it's pretty close.

I do a 20 pump inital suck, then it usually needs another set of 20 near the end. I do few more clean-up pumps too. It's pretty hassle free and "hands-off". I absolutely love it!
 
When an extractor will work, they produce very good results.

But they won't work on some engines.

I've had great results with the GM Ecotec 2.4, the Jaguar AjV8, and the Jaguar V12, and all household small engines. Poor results with the GM LS1 and High Feature V6; and the Jaguar Aj6.

They work great on transmissions, diffs, gas tanks, brake, power steering, rad overflow, rads, and myriad other tanks or receptacles.

I have an extractor that you hook up to a compressor and at about 90 PSI, it will scavenge hard. I've heard it sucking the sump of my Jaguar V12 dry, about like a kid sucking a soda dry through a straw.
