PEAK LL 50/50

A new BIG LOTs has opened recently in my area and I made my 1st visit to see the new store. While I was there, I noticed that they have Peak Long Life 50/50 Coolant for and even $8.00/gal. Not a bad price considering that most auto stores have it on sale for $8.99 after Sale/Rebate.

I do see Prestone AM/AM 50/50 at AAP for $8.99 w/ coupon if you want to make a compairson.

I know that these coolants are what some call "DexClones" but, I have never had any issues with AM/AM coolant

I also noticed that BIG LOTs has Rain-X Repel BEAM Styly wiper blades in a variety of sizes(16"-21") all for $10.00. So, I bought 3 diff sizes for emergency as these blades are what I am using on all of our cars anyway.

I don't think the products you're referring to are what some people are calling 'DexClones'. They have their own DexCool-compatible coolants, or at least Prestone does.

Buying premixed is such a marketing scheme ,You save alot more money and come out way ahead buying full strength and doing half water yourself ,,Overall you make 2 gallons out of one mixing it yourself

My guess is that PEAK's and Prestone's AMAM coolants have very similar chemistry. I also believe they contain the 'dreaded' 2EHA which has caused problems with some gaskets in certain applications. Having said that,I know that thousands of people are using these coolants in virtually every make of vehicle with absolutely no problems...YMYM..

Yes very true but, in my experience, only when the full strength is also on sale. Because the Full Strength of any LL Coolant is about $15-$16/gal(brand depentant) at it's everyday price anyway!

I try to buy Full Strength Coolant on sale and a jug of distilled water(filter specials.

An update:
At my local BigLots flyer in the Sunday paper, the PEAK LL 50/50 is now $6.50/gal.
