What would be better for a Honda civic?

Honda's coolant is silicate free, but has phosphates. I understand honda uses [sodium] benzoate.

G 05 is phosphate free, but contains low levels of silicates and uses sodium benzoate, as far as I know.

Peak Global (the gold bottle), from what I understand, uses sodium benzoate, and has no silicates[I gather this after reading the MSDS and the ingredients list on the bottle]. I am not sure about phosphates. Does anyone happen to know the color of Peak Global?

So, in my opinion, wouldn't Peak Global be a slightly better match than G 05?

I know that a person on here (i forget at the moment) has used ST/prestone all-makes/dexcool in a honda with no problems. However, dexcool uses 2-EHA, which Honda does not like.

Of course i could go with genuine honda coolant, but they charge an arm and a leg for the premix.

Thoughts/opinions? Imma be doing a thermostat replacement on my bro's 94 civic, the coolant that's in there is rather new, but I thought I might switch to something new/different; I could recollect and reuse the stuff if I am really clean about it.

if he;s going to keep it forever and it's his baby, then only use honda OEM coolant.

if he's into experimentation, try the peak global?

Honda coolant is expensive, usually over $10 per half gallon of actual coolant, add about $0.50 for the half gallon of water they mix with it. Why they dont sell it in concentrate (besides the one for motorcylces) in full gallons is beyond me.

I switched my Grand Prix over from Dex to Peak Global and it seems to be great so far. I have no complaints. Looks like urine and smells a little strong compared to Dex or green, but seems to work just fine.

Does anyone know if Peak Global EL contains 2-EHA which is the ingredient in Dex-cool that Ford,Honda, and Toyota are opposed to. Ray H probably knows the answer to this question.

I just did a search and found that Ray H did indeed answer this question back in Oct. 04. I should have did the search before my first post. Sorry
