I don't know why you say you don't get it- its been discussed to death here. Taking Prestone's "all-makes" for example: it contains 2EHA, which is known to damage plastic gasket materials just like DexCool can. Why would anyone EVER use that in certain Ford models, a Chrysler, a Mercedes, or one of the Asian brands which specifically chose non-2EHA containing coolants for their factory fill? Especially given how much trouble GM had getting 2EHA-based DexCool to work with some of their own older engine designs?
Its simple logic. Some OEM requirements are mutually exclusive of the requirements of other OEMs. Therefore there is no such thing as an "all makes all models" coolant. QED.
