racin4ds is correct; The left lane is the PASSING LANE.

I actually want to start a thread about "Which States have worst drivers, and why." The first example I would use is Georgia, where they all SEEM TO think the left lane is for a 35MPH Sunday stroll in the car, be it on a quiet road or a major highway....

Passing lane should be open unless someone is passing at a good rate above the middle or right lane.
I do respect anyone's choice to drive at a safe and correct speed in the non passing lanes; though if the flow of traffic in the MIDDLE lane is typ 10mph faster than you are going, you should get out of the way and move to the right lane. I see too many middle lane drivers travelling WAY under general traffic speed/flow causing high speed shuffling of approaching traffic. This is manufactured danger due to the slow driver.

Good rule for slow guys - if there is 10 car lengths in front of you and a 1/2 mile of traffic back up on your bumper - you are a slug - and should just stay home.
