Flak jacket tires have been a Godsent, but I still get a flat every few weeks. I'd like to do without siting out there in the heat, fixing a tube and tire the oldfashioned way.

Unless you're running tubulars.... I don't see the value.

You can't remove the tire and patch the tube as well as the tire itself?

Option 2: as others mentioned, tires with better armor. Continental Gatorskin is a popular tire

Option 3: Tubeless with Stan's sealant.

I haven't thought about tubulars since the early 1980 the kevlar belted clinchers had way less rolling resistance in our unofficial coasting tests.

Thanks for listing all my options, you forgot "start walking", but I was expressly asking and hoping for a firsthand user report. I will ask at a bike forum instead and probably just try the system out anyway.

Tubeless is the way to go, been doing that for years. There was a 4 year period that I stopped using tubeless and guess what...I got flats regularly. With tubeless, one...ever

Not that I'm willing to convert any of my current bikes to tubeless, but just out of curiosity, do you get less punctures or less pinch flats with tubeless tires? My fat friends like tubless, but I'm not obese and I don't get pinch flats. It's almost always thorns or a sharp piece of metal.

I had a lot of flats with "Flak jackets" that came with my Specialized bike. Better protection is armadillos within Specialized.

Tubeless, uses sealant, so when you pull the thorn out, the latex and "bits" will seal the puncture with minimal loss of pressure. Of course, it has its limits in size and can't do cuts and tears too well.

Over 8,000 miles on two bikes using STOP Flats2...........

Just saying...........

Almost all my flats are due to sidewall punctures, so I don't see how a tire liner will help. I may eventually move to tubeless, but only if I buy a new bike, and I don't see that happening all that soon.
