Going to do the front brakes on my 96 Cherokee this weekend...new rotors and pads. Going to go with ceramic this time. Was planning on Napa Premium stuff but are there any other good options? We have Advance, Napa, OReillys and Autozone.

Thanks!

Advance auto Gold and Platinum pads work fine. That and you can use their discount codes to get the price fair.

Its also not to late to order from amazon if you have prime.

Perfect, just looked them up and I got the Gold pads and rotors for $60 basically. Awesome deal, thanks!

Remember ceramic is like synthetic oil blend. As long as they put in a little ceramic fairy dust into the mix they can call it ceramic.

I would have ordered Akebono pads and then used AAP rotors.

I put a set of AZ premium rotors on last year and they have been good. I almost prefer the raybestos advanced tech rotors, but they seem to only be affordable on amazon, while the local stores easily do exchanges and warranty replacements. I've had 2 raybestos rotors arrive with defects, so it's a real thing, but the good ones seem to have less runout than what I got from AZ. I know I'm pretty picky... I've been happy with the AZ rotors.

Just did Ms Sierra048's Frontier, front and rear. Used the Advance Auto platinum brake pads and NAPA coated premium rotors. Have not been disappointed so far.

Most of the parts store stuff is made by Roulunds in China or India - I think the differences between Duralast Gold/C-Max, BrakeBest Select and Wearever Platinum are superficial. Napa is still using BPI.

I'd get the mentioned lines and whitebox rotors - I've used BrakeBest rotors in the past with no problems.

If you have to go parts store, Napa tends to be very decent, but generally the cost isn't too competitive. Advance Auto has done well for me in the past. I'm pickier than that most of the time, though.

My experience with the Autozone Duralast Gold pads is mixed. The pads I installed wore out in 1/3 the time of OE on the Chevy 2500s we had, but Autozone was good at replacing pads and rotors under warranty, even when abused.

I don't think I would use them again if given the choice - my time is worth more to me now.

If you insist on local, Autozone top tier pads and whatever for the rotors.

AAP has the codes, but AZ may be able to make a deal for you.

Akebono pads from Amazon.com, Stop Tech, EBC or OEM rotors. If none available then all OEM from Toyota Parts Deal. I tried NAPA drums but they rusted out quicker (8 mos) than OEM (20 years) so I went back to OEM.

I replaced the Oreilly Gold Ceramic pads this spring on my 01 Tahoe. 60k on them, and still had a half pad left.

The kicker is I live in Minneapolis, and have a high %age of stop/go driving...

If you're not doing it until the weekend, order online from Rock Auto. Wagner coated rotors and Akebono pads
