Paper filter ranking?

I've generally used Wix paper filters, since a bad K&N experience about 30,000 miles ago, but have seen some decent posts about some of the other brands - Purolater, STP, Fram, etc. Is there one that is really better than the others? I'm not a "high flow" guy per say, just interested in efficient filtration. I'm not interested in starting a battle of oiled vs. paper, just interested in the overall best paper filter.

The one filter test I saw a long time ago pitted a AC Delco paper against a bunch of aftermarket filters...it filtered better than any of the oil-filters IIRC.

I run Baldwin filters, my used oil analysis come back with typically 1 to 2 PPM silicon.

I saw flow comparisons a long time ago. There was K&N, AC Delco, and a few others I don't remember. Out of the box the K&N out flowed them all. The flow rate fell off after some use, and I think a new AC Delco out-flowed a used K&N. You can clean the K&N, but you'll never see the flow rates of a new one. I just don't think there is any advantage unless you drive in the high RPM range.

And just to add to this, I'm using a Baldwin panel filter in my diesel...my used oil analysis comes back 2ppm silicon consistently (and I drive some dusty roads).

I got these off ebay for $1/filter (a $20 filter), and will continue to run them after my supply dwindles.
