Pan drop on '04 Impala - ATF suggestions

Believe it or not all GM vehicles that came with Dex3 fluid likes Maxlife.
My 96 Buick Regal with 68K miles did not like Maxlife and after a few months it started whining and having mushy shifts. I dropped the pan again and replaced the filter but this time I refilled with Castrol High Mileage fluid. Knock on wood but so far the transmission is back to normal.

Years ago I tried Mobil 1 transmission fluid in the 4L60E in my 98 chevy truck and it did not like that fluid at all. I had slippage and the transmission didn't feel like it was shifting right. I drained that out and put in a conventional Dexron III and the transmission went back to normal. I bought this truck new and had always drained and refilled the transmission fluid every other oil change so the transmission was not abused.

That is why I'm hesitant to try the new Dexron VI in this transmission because I don't think it likes any synthetic at all.

Don't forget to add the Lubegard Red...really made a difference in mine!
