This is my 4th year in a row doing this. It cost me about $85. That’s for the 3 quarts of paint and the pump sprayer. It took almost four hours and my back feels all jacked up.

In the PNW, we usually go with no rain from late June to mid September. If you don’t have an irrigation system for your lawn, it will die.

The paint will fade over time and when the rain comes in September, the grass will start turning green and start growing. I still mow it since some parts still grow in summer.

What I do with dead grass is cut it extremely short level with the dirt. The property looks like a sheet of suede leather when I'm done.

How many square feet of coverage do you get for that $85?

It looks really nice. I irrigate about an acre of turf that is on a south facing slope. I spend about $1,000 a month for 3-4 months to do so. It seems ridiculous and I wish I’d put in something less needy in spots. The green looks good but I think it’d get pretty thin and weedy here during the summer.

I live in the Poulsbo area. I do like this. My grass dies every summer. I have been watering it this year, but that looks pretty dang good! I have over 1.25 acres of grass, but I would love to do just my front yard. I will say this my pumpkins and various other vegetables have been doing really well this year.

Painted grass? That's a new one on me.

For "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" they painted the leaves in the trees behind Cameron's house.
