Oil base paint has its place, still. It all depends on what you plan on doing. On exterior trim or siding, oil paint is a breeding ground for mold and mildew, so I would avoid its use for exterior trim work etc. Oil base paint tends to yellow more than latex, you can thank Uncle Sam for messing with the VOC laws years ago for that.
and nothing beats a good oil base trim paint on new interior woodwork and wainscot.
Nothing beats it besides 2K poly or Conversion Varnish
I was referring to "paint" applied by brush and roller, that the average DIY guy would be able to easily attempt. The finishes you've mentioned are awesome but in a totally different category.
