Paint quality on Kia cars

Wondered the same thing but thats what he said he had on his DeLorean bumpers.

Paint job? I can't get over the $38K for a Kia Borrego part?!? Why?? Could you imagine the resale value on that baby?

Hyundai and Kia are not the same company. Hyundai owns Kia.
Even though Kia uses some Hyundai parts they are their own company and have their own and to me some what lower quality standards.
Hyundai Has really moved up in the quality corner. I have seen this Orange Peal on many different cars.

They are the same company... My mom owns a Kia Spectra and my neighbor owns a Hyundai Elantra and under the hood they are exactly the same, even the interior is similar... It's more than just some parts...

99 percent of Kia buyers aren't going to care about orange peel, or even look at the paint up close..
Its not that type of car.
With the new EPA paint, it has been a little harder to get a good finish.
I wouldn't expect glass paint on a kia. Honestly if you want it perfect, I'm sure that you could convince the dealer to have the entire thing wetsanded and buffed at a real bodyshop before you get it. That would be a major improvement.

I have a 2006 Hyundai sonata in powder white pearl, and it was flawless as far as orange peel is concerned. It got hit last year, and a fender and repaint of the hood now shows a slight 'peel' to it, but you have to look hard to see it. I too, have seen many makes of cars have a slight 'peel' to them, I always just attributed it to mass production techniques.

Well, for $38K, I would expect my Borrego or whatever to have a pretty good paint job! I had no idea those trucks cost THAT much! Imagine the 2 or 3 year old truck you could get that ISN'T a Kia for that much coin. These must be the kind of cars people need bailing out on. Around here, the Kia radio ads always mention no credit checks and nothing down, trade in your gas guzzler, we'll take over your payments! How much does a Borrego depreciate in 12 months?
